Who is God? Where does he live? How I find him?
Many of have such questions. Some of us even believe that
GOD don’t exist and the story of the GOD is a “stupid thought of a stupid
person”
These People could be right and we could be wrong. Let’s try
& see what SGGS has to say on this. The very first 3 words “EK OMKAR
SATNAM” put a stamp of authority on HIS existence. Let’s take each world one by
one and try & understand.
EK… HE is the ONE, who created this universe; HE is the
master, The creator, The destroyer and The ONE, who is running this universe.
If we really agree to the above do we really believe in
them? Do we believe that HE is the master, the creator, the destroyer and the
ONE, who is running the show? NO, we don’t. We think WE are the master, We rule
the world, we have CREATED everything. The ONE, who is destroying the world
around us are our enemies. Or in other words we think WE are running the world.
In short we don’t believe that there is ONE……
In short it means that “OM ”
is the purest name (sound) of the GOD.
Let’s take the 3rd world “SATNAM”
In order to understand this word, we should divide them into
2 words. SAT + NAM …
SAT means TRUTH or EXISTENTIAL. We all would think there is no difference
between these 2 words. Right? No, there is a difference. For example at night
you see a dream which is TRUE but it is non EXISTENTIAL and that’s why you
realize it in the morning “it wasn’t true”. Similarly a math’s formula of 5 + 5
= 10, is EXISTENTIAL but not TRUE (it is just a calculation system developed by
humans).
But GOD’s NAME (Nam ) is TRUE & EXISTENTIAL
(both).
In short it means the GOD is true and HE exists.
If we combine the meaning that we think that describe EK
OMKAR SATNAM is “ONE + GOD + EXISTS”
The Gurus gave a special place to reconnect to GOD and they
name it “GURUDWARA” (The door to the GOD). But why that name? Why Door? Why not
something else? Let’s understand what is significance of the meaning of the
DOOR. The door is the entry gate to a place.. right? Therefore it mean that
from this DOOR we can enter to the House of the GOD… Correct? Yes but there is
another meaning to it. Let take an example, who comes to your door asking for
something? What do you call him? We call him a Beggar or who wants something.
Right? The person, who comes to your door begging leaves his EGO at home. He
does not order or demand anything. He would wait at the gate and if you give
him something, he will be thankful and it you don’t give him he will shake his
head & move on.
But what we do? We go to Gurudwara to present our demands,
desires & wishes. We put Rs. 10/- in the golak and hope & expect that
it would return as Rs. 1,00,000/- some day. We never go to gurudwara leaving
our EGO behind, we never enter the Gurudwara to pay our gratitude for all things
in life that HE has granted us. We only go and complain that HE is being partial;
HE is grating your neighbour’s or your friend’s or other family member’s wishes
but not yours. We only go to ask for more but never to convey “that I am here
to surrender, I am here to accept your decisions, I am here to listen to you”….
No we never do that..
Unfortunately, we have not made any efforts to find HIM. If
you are really serious about this, you can find HIM very easily. Don’t agree
with me? Let me give you an example. Every time you want to somethin, you hear
an inner voice (some call it your conscious or some will say “my heart says”),
which tells you where you should do it or not do it. Right? What is Conscious,
who speaks to you from inside you? Who is telling you to do or not to do?
THAT'S HIM.
HE is inside you & me, everyday, every minute &
every second. HE is guiding is sitting inside us. We don’t have to go anywhere
to find HIM… Look inside us and we will find HIM. Look around you and you will
find HIM in everything…
As SGGS says “Sarab niwasi sada alepa… tohi sang samai”
(means he is always there and all you have to do is look inside…. And not
outside in a temple or church or a mosque)…..
Stay blessed!
